As the author of Bullyproof Your child for Life: Protect Your Child from Teasing, Taunting and Bullying for Good, bullying can be very painful for kids as early as pre-school. Kids do need strategies they can learn to deflect bullying at early ages because it is an opportunity for them to learn a valuable life lesson. They can reduce the bullying thrown at them if they can reduce the drama or find a way to make the bullying problem less fun for the bully. Once kids find this bully solution and learn how to master it, they will build their confidence significantly. See also www.toolkitsforkids.com for skills to build confidence and resilience.

What an amazing story and what a lucky little girl! It goes to show how easy it is for a child to slip away unnoticed and through no fault of their parents. I was so glad to read about the happy ending and it was wonderful to hear how your community was so ready and willing help.

I wanted to mention how much these trackers have impressed me since first came across them a year ago. I have a son with Autism and I work with children and young people who have Autism and similar disorders, children who run away or get lost are a constant worry for us and when they are non-verbal or have poor communication and social skills a tracker becomes even more invaluable and for a longer time. I dearly like to see them more widely available, they would save a lot of frustration and ultimately heartbreak - particularly within the special needs community.

a couple of years ago when my son was about 2 and my daughter only about 6 months old i lost my son without even knowing.
my husband went out and my son had made a huge fuss as soon as he realised dad was going out somewhere, all of a sudden all was quiet and then i heard the car go out the drive way (i was busy dealing to a very messy nappy situation with my daughter) and i thought of good hes decided to give me a break and take the boy with him. it wasnt until about 5 minutes later that a started to have a gut feeling something wasnt right but i brushed it off and continued to bath the baby another 15 minutes went by and in that time id also dressed and fed my daughter and all of a sudden i get a phone call.
it was my landlord who owned the local dairy. my son had walked down our road around the corner when someone noticed him and took him to the dairy to see if anyone there knew who he was.
i felt so bad because it didnt occur to me that he wasnt with his dad until i got that phone call. i cried all the way to the dairy cause i felt so guilty.

I was with my wife & 3 year old son in Queensgate mall looking at the toys in Farmers. I told my son that we will have a look at the toys in The Warehouse which is at the other end of the mall.
He was wandering ahead of us in Farmers & I had stopped to talk to a friend. My wife was following just behind him, but as soon as she walked around the corner he had gone. We both panicked running from store to store, but then I stopped to think & ran straight to The Warehouse toy section & there he was.
He ran all the way from one end to the other end of the mall. This was the most frightning day of my life. I promised myself this will never happen again.

My 14 month daughter got lost when we were at the library today. She was delighted to be set free from the pram and was happily doing small laps around me while I was browsing the shelves. I had an unnerving sense of alarm and realised I hadn't seen her for about a minute! How far can she go in that time?

I quickly scanned the library and couldn't find her. Luckily, a lady asked me if I was looking for a toddler and pointed behind her as she came in the front door 'yes!' I was horrified to see that she had run through the self-openning doors and was tearing up the path towards the road! What a wonderful feeling to draw her up into my arms again.

I now realise that my days of multi-tasking when she is 'free' are over. I know she wasn't gone for long but that was enough of a fright for this mother.
